Meet Jim Parobek, Jr., MBA
President, OhioHealth Marion General Hospital
Jim Parobek, Jr., M.B.A., began serving as president of OhioHealth Marion General Hospital in March 2024.
Jim has over thirty years of knowledge in the healthcare field. This past year he served in interim leadership roles for Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, IL, White Rock Medical Center in Dallas, TX and Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in Vermont. His work focused on improving operations, strategic planning and enhancing physician engagement. Just prior to this Jim held various roles for Texas Health Resources including the president of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and the executive vice president of physician services.
Jim attended Miami University in Ohio completing his undergraduate degree in chemistry and later at Ohio University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. In 1993, Jim received his M.B.A., with honors, from Webster University.
He began his career as a licensed physical therapist in Asheville, NC. He then moved to Louisville, KY and took on various leadership roles for Norton Healthcare. In 2001, he became the first president of Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital.
Jim has had extensive experience working for non-profit health care systems that operate hospital networks and related health facilities much like OhioHealth. His experience has consisted of various leadership roles where he had a significant impact on the operations by unifying the oversight and coordination of health system services with employed and independent physician groups.
During his career, Jim has successfully established a hospital as a Level 1 trauma center, initiated multiple DE&I initiatives as well as community engagement projects including establishing a respite unit at a local homeless shelter and employment vehicles for homeless and housing insecure citizens.
Outside of work, Jim enjoys traveling, golfing, attending sporting events and hiking with his wife, Susan, and Goldendoodle, Maggie.
