Why Choose Cardiology at Doctors Hospital

Our fellowship program is designed to bring you up to speed smoothly, while learning from the best minds in the field.

A Curriculum Molded by You

Diverse Learning: Practice cardiology in a variety of care sites, large and small, with dedicated time for research and regular use of our simulation environment.

Flexibility: You choose the course of your curriculum and experiences to align with your passions and career trajectory.

Mentorship: You will be paired with an attending mentor for the duration of your program, who will share knowledge and advice to shape your career.

How We Will Support You

Our strong curriculum and unmatched experiences will be sure to set you up for success. But that’s not all. You will be instructed by talented faculty and paired with an attending mentor, who will guide you for the next three years. Doctors Hospital Medical Education also provides funds to each resident to purchase additional learning materials, travel to present research, or attend a specialty-specific conference.

Culture

Our culture at OhioHealth is one of our greatest strengths. We operate as a family, and you will find a high level of camaraderie among OhioHealth fellows and faculty physicians. Many of our faculty volunteer their time because they are passionate about physician education. They want to see you succeed and get the most out of your training. Fellows also plan social outings on a regular basis.

Wellness

We believe that wellness and resilience are imperative in being an effective physician. OhioHealth is a national leader in the provider wellness field. We regularly use the Mayo Clinic’s Well-Being Index to identify and address burnout and distress, provide a format for reflective groups, and offer proactive meetings with our Physician Health and Wellness group to help you manage stress.

Research and Development

As a fellow, you will have dedicated time for research, and opportunities to present at local, regional and national conferences. The OhioHealth Research Institute will provide you with the tools you need to plan and conduct your research project, including access to existing research, clinical and data coordination, contract guidance, quality assurance and other types of support.

An expansive simulation environment will also be available to you through the Center for Medical Education + Innovation. This advanced technology allows for hands-on learning through patient simulators in a Virtual Care Unit and clinical skills laboratories. You will use the simulation center during orientation for intern boot camp and twice monthly for continual learning.

Outcomes and Placement

Graduates of our program have gone on to complete subspecialty fellowships in electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, cardiac MRI, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation. They can be found practicing cardiology across the United States. Many also choose OhioHealth for their long-term career, having gained an appreciation for our culture and development opportunities.
